Training Program Description

I2S2 Seminar Series: Clinical Decision Support Deconstructed – What Works? How Does It Work? What’s New? Featuring Jonathan Teich, MD, PhD. Clinical decision support (CDS) provides clinicians and patients with clinical knowledge and data, tailored to a given situation and organized for rapid, optimal action. It’s easy to think of CDS as alerts, but there are many more forms that are useful for proactive (identifying opportunities for improvement), reactive (preventing adverse events), and predictive interventions, affecting a single patient or an entire population. We will discuss different forms of CDS, how to design CDS for best impact, how to avoid pitfalls that make it less effective. We will also touch on recent examples and new trends, including interoperable/sharable CDS, new data sources such as genomics and text, CDS in Covid-19, and the role of machine learning.
